Knowledge Transfer Partnerships promote partnerships between the business community and academic institutes. The KTP programme is flexible and can be tailored to your specific company's needs.

KTP's are aimed at tackling longer-term, strategic issues in an organisation and can last between 1 to 3 years. These longer projects may be appropriate for companies that have some experience of working with a knowledge base (College).

Key facts

  • Central College Glasgow had extensive experience in Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP). In 2007, the KTP the with Thistle Scientific Limited and the School of Commerce, was one of the first KTP project with an FE College in Scotland. The KTP was an 18 month project to increase customer awareness, sales and profitability at Thistle Scientific Limited.
  • Central College Glasgow have worked on projects with local businesses Mechanex UK Ltd,a heating ventilation and air conditioning company based in Glasgow and Alex Shanks Ltd, a local and national supplier of janitorial, cleaning and hygiene products. These project were in the areas of Public Sector Procurement and eMarketing respectively.
  • The City of Glasgow College have now embarked on the first KTP as a newly merged College and are working in partnership with D&G Precision Engineering Ltd, who design, manufacture and assemble mechanically engineered products.
