Passing the Strathclyde Police “Standard Entrance Test” “SET” is an essential part of the recruitment process. This consists of three papers testing the candidates ability in language, numbers and information handling. The course enhances your chances of passing.
In addition to the SET, candidates must also meet the other police entry requirements. These include honesty, maturity, social awareness, a fitness test, age 17½ years or over, possession of a full UK driving licence, 3 years continuous UK residence and good eyesight. The course lasts 6 weeks involving two evening classes per week on Mondays and Wednesdays, 25 January to 8 March, 2010 (6.00 to 8.30 pm). The venue is Room 2/14, Allan Glen’s Building, 190 Cathedral Street, Glasgow.
The course costs £235 payable on enrolment though it can be done for only £35. This is because the course is ILA registered which entitles those earning £22,000 p.a. or less to register for a grant of £200 towards the cost. If paying this way you must supply the college with an ILA number on enrolment, together with your cheque for £35 payable to ‘Central College’.
