College celebrates Glasgow City Council Graduates
Central College Glasgow recently celebrated the achievements of 13 Glasgow City Council employees as they graduated with Professional Development Award’s (PDA) in Supply Chain Management.
Earlier this year, Central College Glasgow retained its status as a Centre of Excellence for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) for the fifth year running. The College is also the leading institution in Scotland, second in UK, and fifth in the world for delivery of CIPS courses.
At a recent ceremony held in the College’s CIPS Centre, Depute Principal Elaine Petrie presented the awards to the 13 graduates, who work across a variety of departments within the council. Also in attendance at the ceremony was Central College Glasgow’s Procurement Lecturer, Ken Wayt, who delivered the six month part-time programme.
The PDA in Supply Chain Management has been tailor made by the College to cover areas including how to maintain operational relationships within the supply chain, monitor distribution of supplies, and identify potential suppliers. Central College Glasgow offer CIPS qualifications from Level 2 Introductory Certificate, to Level 6 Graduate Diploma. The 13 Glasgow City Council employees have completed Level 3 with some now progressing to Level 4.
Central College Glasgow Depute Principal, Elaine Petrie, said: “In the current economic climate, competition amongst businesses has never been greater and a highly skilled workforce is what businesses need to drive them forward. Central College has taught CIPS for over 25 years, during which time we have built and maintained strong relationship with both private and public sector organisations. Glasgow City Council employees have been studying CIPS courses at Central College for a number of years, a relationship which we are very proud of. Well done to the most recent cohort of CIPS graduates and on behalf the College, good luck for the future.”
Over the years, the College’s CIPS Centre has helped staff from a wide range of institutions from the private and public sector including the Scottish Government, NHS and Enterprise Ireland, and currently works with over 100 businesses to address their needs. Other services offered by the College’s CIPS Centre include consultancy, recruitment selection, bespoke training and a drop-in facility for professional advice on all matters relating to the supply chain.
