CIPD Foundation Level Certificate in HRM

Entry Requirements

Entry to the course is determined by an eligibility interview rather than specific qualifications

Attendance

Course starts Week commencing Monday 6th September 2010 and ends 22 June 2011. One evening per week on a Monday unless demand requires a second class which would meet on a Tuesday); plus 9 other sessions which would be on a Wednesday or Thursday evening

Progression

Students achieving the Certificate in Human Resource Practice will have satisfied the qualification requirement for the Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and are eligible to move to the next qualification at the intermediate level

Fees*

The cost is £1,300. Additional fees are payable to CIPD (not the College) for student membership/subscription. Set by the CIPD, these fees are approximately £40 (admin fee) and £125 annual membership.

Aims of the course

The CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Practice at the City of Glasgow College is a foundation level programme which is designed for a wide range of people who are in a generalist or specialist personnel or HR position. Successful completion of the programme will gain the nationally recognised CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Practice andfulfils the qualification requirement for Associate Membership of the CIPD.

Course Content

There are seven assessed modules including:

  • Developing Yourself
  • Understanding Organisations
  • HR Information Systems
  • Resourcing Talent,
  • Performance and Reward Management
  • Supporting Change and Designing Learning
  • Development Activities

Assessment

Assessments are primarily work-based and are combination of practical skills andreports. A variety of student-centred teaching/learning methods areused. There are two days of skills based training and the opportunityto attend the CIPD Scottish Partnership Students’ Conference.

A workplace visit will be carried out within the first 3 months of the programme to discuss the progress and development with the students and their workplace mentor.
