Aims of the course

The Police Test Preparation course at the City of Glasgow College helps you prepare for the Strathclyde Police “Standard Entrance Test” “SET”, an essential part of becoming a police officer. It is delivered by top adult literacy experts and considerably enhances your chances of passing. Students undertake mock tests mirroring the real ones covering language, numbers and information handling.

Method

Each learner receives a set of “purpose made” learning materials consisting of explanatory notes and mock tests. The tutor will work through the course content, explaining the form and content of the tests, then the learners work on the bank of mock tests that mirror those undertake in the real “Standard Entrance Test”.

You will also be given assistance with your Police Formal Application.

Course Content

There are three test papers which make up the Scottish Police Standard Entrance Test:

  • Language
  • Number handling
  • Information handling
