City of Glasgow College Officially Launched
The City of Glasgow College was officially launched on the 15th Nov 2010, with the unveiling of their new logo and branding at a day of events for stakeholders and all staff at the college.
The launch was supported by the Minister for Skills and Lifelong Learning, Keith Brown, who provided a message of support for the new college and its staff. He said: “Today’s launch is an important day not only for those directly involved with the new college but also for the city of Glasgow. Three great institutions have come together to create the largest college in Scotland. A merger between what were already leading and very successful institutions in their own right. This new college will be of international significance, offering learning opportunities on a scale of which few other institutions are capable. The winners are Glasgow’s learners, Glasgow’s communities, Glasgow’s businesses and Glasgow itself.”
Paul Little, Principal of the City of Glasgow College stated; “Today’s launch marks a historic milestone for City of Glasgow College, the youngest and largest college in Scotland. We are here together to celebrate the unveiling of our new identity, and to share our exciting new vision for the college.”
“The City of Glasgow College is built on strong educational benefits, which include: improving student choice by offering some 2,600 courses in one College in Glasgow’s city centre; improving the overall student experience for our 40,000 students, who come from 135 different nationalities; providing more access routes into further and higher education for many within our communities; stronger articulation with our partner universities; enhanced employability and better links with major employer; and also greater participation, greater retention and higher quality of student outcomes.
The new College will better serve Glasgow and Scotland, by meeting the education and training needs of 1 in 10 of all Scotland’s Colleges students.”
