Perfect Score for Central College Marketing Postgraduates
Students undertaking the notoriously difficult case study element of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing at Central College Glasgow have achieved a 100% pass rate for the first time.
The College has been teaching CIM-approved courses for 30 years, but this is the first time all 12 students taking the Professional Postgraduate Diploma have passed the case study element.
The case study involves an in-depth 50-page analysis of an organisation’s marketing activity, and the national pass rate is just 50%.
Central College provides 53% of all further education business and management courses in Glasgow, and it is the only college or university in Scotland to offer the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma.
Robin McGee Head of the School Commerce at Central College, said:
- “I am absolutely delighted with the results. This is a testament to the high quality of the teaching from the Department of Commerce and the hard-work of the students themselves. These results firmly underscore Central College’s reputation as the first choice for Scottish businesses which want to up-skill their staff through courses accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In these difficult economic conditions, there has never been a better time for forward-thinking businesses to invest in their staff by sending them on professional development courses at Central College.”
The successful candidates were employed by organisations as diverse as BDO Stoy Hayward, the University of the West of Scotland, Mabbett and Associates, and the Braehead Merchants Association.
The one-year part-time CIM Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Marketing is open to candidates who have a business related degree with appropriate marketing content; postgraduate awards with suitable marketing content; at least three years approved sales or marketing experience at senior management level; NVQ/SQA level 4 in equivalent awards; or other CIM-approved equivalent awards.
The four core areas of the diploma cover analysis and evaluation, strategic marketing decisions, managing marketing performance, and strategic marketing in practice.
